Indiependence is finally back this bank holiday weekend after two years without Cork's favourite music festival.

The festival is always one of the music highlights of the summer thanks to its stellar line-up, audience and summer vibes.

Indiependence 2022 takes place in Mitchelstown in County Cork this bank holiday weekend from Friday, July 29 until Sunday, July 31.

The campsite opens at 10am on Friday, July 29, with the main area opening at 4pm on the Friday and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. The main area will close nightly at 2am.

Rudimental will be joined by Icelandic Eurovision act Daddi Freyr, Lyra and former Walking On Cars lead singer Pa Sheehy on the opening night of the festival.

UK rockers Bastille, who recently spoke to Extra.ie, will be bringing their anthems back to Indiepdence on Saturday after previously headlining in 2019. The Academic, Erica Cody, Malaki and Bobbi Arlo will also be playing on the second day.

The final night of Indiependence sees legendary DJs Fatboy Slim and Jenny Greene bringing the weekend to a close with a bang. Indie darling Declan McKenna and Becky Hill are sure to draw large crowds for their sets.

Indiependence have teamed up with TravelMaster to bring attendees down to Cork. The bus service will be running busses from 16 counties across the county. Those with tickets will be dropped off at The Firgrove Hotel, located a short walk from the site.

Those driving to the festival from Dublin should take the M7 southbound out of the capital. After the toll plaza take the slip road to Cork after 4km. An hour later you'll see a sign leading you to Mitchelstown.

There will be limited car parking spots available at the festival, attendees are advised to carpool or take public transport if possible.

Those with camping tickets can bring up to 24 cans or 1 litre of spirits in a plastic bottle to the festival. Your own alcohol can't be brought into the main area.

Alcohol access is restricted to your first entry only. Once you have your wristband on you will not be allowed to re-enter, make sure you have your drink with you when you're going in!

There will be a wide range of food vendors available at Indiependence 2022, you certainly won't be stuck for choice when it comes to your meals.

Aerosol canisters, air horns, animals (excluding registered guide or hearing dogs), backpacks or handbags over A4 size, banners or flags with poles, barbecues, cameras with detachable lens, Go Pros, sky lanterns, gazebos, fireworks, glass, musical instruments, iPads and lasers are all banned from Indiependence.

Indiependence is a strictly over 18s event. Weekend and day tickets for the festival can still be snapped up here for what promises to be one of the highlights of the summer.

Shower facilities are available in the main campsite and Pitched Perfect campsite, so don't worry about getting a bit mucky.

Make sure to stay safe and arrange meeting points with your friends. Festivals can be hectic so make sure to do things at your own pace!
