ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - Atlanta Hawks and UPS officials teamed up with an Atlanta-based social impact startup company to provide one week of supply of groceries to underserved Fulton County residents at the Greenbriar Mall Friday, officials announced.

Officials and volunteers from Hawks and UPS packed and distributed books and free groceries such as shelf-stable items, snacks for children, fruits, beverages, ready-made meals and more.

Visitors also enjoyed family-friendly games, a bouncy house, face painting and activities.

Atlanta Hawks Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility Andrea Carter, Global Community Director of UPS La’Kerri Jackson and Goodr Inc. Project Coordinator Myesha Thornton spoke about the importance of giving back to the community.

“Goodr is always honored to partner with the Atlanta Hawks and UPS to support underserved Atlantans,” Goodr Founder and CEO Jasmine Crowe said. “Feeding both body and mind is important. This means that the impact of ‘Books and Bites’ will last beyond just the meals provided for the families involved.”

Hawks Entertainment including Hawks dancers, Harry the Hawk mascot and Atlanta Hawks players Sharife Cooper and Chaundee Brown jr. also attended.

“We are grateful to UPS in joining us in this effort to fight local food insecurity,” said Carter. “Coming together with Goodr for ‘Books and Bites’ and finding meaningful ways to engage underserved families speaks to our values as an organization and what it means to be ‘True To Atlanta.’”

Officials held a NBA Draft Watch Party Thursday evening for season ticket holders. The Hawks selected AJ Griffin with the No. 16 pick in the draft.
